This course examines the principles and practices of advocacy and social justice within the Canadian social services context.
Key topics include systemic inequality, human rights, grassroots organizing, and public policy analysis. Students will explore strategies for empowering individuals and communities to address social injustices, developing skills in advocacy planning, coalition-building, and effective communication.
The course emphasizes practical applications, such as creating advocacy campaigns and engaging with policymakers, preparing students for roles in nonprofit organizations, community development, or government agencies.
