About Course
This course introduces students to three critical components in the Business environment context: Ethics (moral philosophy), Corporate Social Responsibility and the connection to Environmental Sustainability.
What Will You Learn?
- Explain the terms and implications of the following concepts: ethics, social responsibility, morals
- Explain how corporate social responsibility (CSR) evolved and encompasses economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic components
- Determine how moral philosophy affects the decisions human beings make in their everyday lives
- Describe the complexities of environmental sustainability issues as they relate to the intricate connections between people and the planet (systems thinking)
- Articulate the concept where ethical values are embedded in the premises and assumptions of all decisions we make concerning land and resource use
- Evaluate environmental sustainability challenges with a futurist thinking perspective including possible futures (what may happen), plausible futures (what could happen), probable futures (what likely will happen), and preferable futures (what we want to have happen)
- Express awareness of the mind shift that needs to happen for society to adopt sustainable environmental practices
- Suggest solutions and hypothesize on ways to mitigate carbon footprints
